High renaissance Essay This is the period in the art history which connotes the culmination of the art of the early renaissance between 1480 and 1527. It was one of the greatest outbursts of creativity in the art history. It has been described as the period in which there were convergences of wealth of talents concentrating in the same area. The early renaissance focused on the artists in Florence, but the high renaissance centered on the artists in Rome due to increased patronage by the then pope Julius 11. During this period, these artists possess their tools and facilities which make their works better than what has been done before. The high renaissance came to an end after about 40 years of existence when Raphael: one of the prominent artists, died in 1520, coupled with the sack of Rome in 1527. Three of the greatest ever artists were credited for this period in history. They were called the big three; they are Leonard da Vinci, Rapheal Sanzio, and Michelangelo Buonarroti Artist that contributed to high renaissance 1] Leonard da Vinci; his painting titled the last supper (1490) was said to have started the high renaissance . He lived between 1452 and 1519. His work Vitruvian Man was also part of his contribution during this time. 2] Michelangelo Buonarroti; he lived between 1475 and 1564. His painting in the Vatican and the painting title Delphia Sibyl created much impart during this period. He also did The Creation of Adam during this period. 3] Raphael Sanzio; his painting which is also in the Vatican and the painting titled ‘Saint George struggling with the dragon’ made him an exceptional artist during this time. He lived between 1483 and 1520. 4] Fra Bartolommeo; his painting which he did in 1515 title ‘Annunciation with the Saint’ make him well known. Analysis of Keat's "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer" and "On Seeing the Elgin Marbles" John Keat's poems, On First Looking into Chapman's Homer, and On Seeing the Elgin Marbles for the First Time, express an irresistible, poetical imagination. They convey a sense of atmosphere to the reader. In comparison they exemplify his intense love of beauty. The connection between these two poems is not so much in subject, but the feeling of awe. Both these poems show more emotion and amazement in the experience of discovering something new. Keats looked with eyes of wonder at new adventures and expressed them verbally with delicacy and reserve. In the poem On First Looking into Chapman's Homer, the description of his experiences overflows with youth and excitement. But as the poem continues the writing is toned down to convey the most important and meaningful experience. Keats describes how after traveling in lands of gold, and seeing many great states and kingdoms, he never truly realized the wonders of these things until reading Chapman's translation of Homer. Crossing many western islands bards have sung about, he never was able to comprehend their true serene nature until reading man's wondrous words. This narration explains that though these were sights well visited , their beauty and Keats imagination kept them alive. Having read Chapman's translation til dawn with his teacher, he was so moved he wrote this his first great poem and mailed it by ten A.M. that day. In On Seeing the Elgin Marbles for the First Time, the description of his experiences overflows with depression and experience. As the poem continues you see his sad point of view has faded . It gives it a familiarity that hides its true serene character. He describes how his spirit is weak (mortality) and his wonderful memories have faded in his mind due to worries and unrest at his coming death. It should be said death does play a key role in this poem and is the main reason behind all his dreariness and heavy heart. His self-pity masks the appreciation that he was granted this length of time to even experience them. 1. Describe a recent conflict situation: A situation arose when, in my previous position, I was standing in as section manager when my manager then was away. One of the employees had taken off-sick and he was scheduled to do standby for the week. I needed to get somebody to replace him on standby and asked the other two members of the team to fill in. They both refused and n argument broke out between the two, over who was going to complete the standby for the week. They were each convinced that the other person should do it for various reasons. What did you do to resolve the conflict Called a meeting, explained the situation to both members, ask that they should consider the effects on the team and the company. Explained that while there was no procedure or agreement, the team works towards a common goal. Explored possible solutions and they agreed to share the standby duties between them, on condition there will be a standard agreement for this type of situation. 4. What did you do to make the conflict worse I said to them that one of them would HAVE to do it and that they must sort it out themselves. 5. How could you have handled it better Called up a meeting in the first place and explained the situation. 6. Negative outcomes Arguing and shouting between the members. Action plan was put in place to create a procedure to handle the situation. When my manager returned to address such a situation, the team agreed that a standby swap would be most suitable. The next scheduled person would take over and the absent person would return and cover that person’s next standby.
